Questions to ask ourselves during this presentation:
- Is AI sentient?
- Is AI “a robot with a soul” as some teachers believe?
- Or is believing that a man-made computer program has life ‘idolatry’?
- Are those in Yeshua’s body to fear technology and other man-made ‘things’?
- Does Benjamin Brochot teach what the Bible says about AI, or what he personally ‘thinks’, ‘feels’, ‘believes’, and ‘prefers’?
Lesson plan:
1. Summarize NI’s experience with Benjamin Brochot (French independent minster)
2. Define Artificial Intelligence and why it is not sentient as many fear.
3. Discuss the fallen watchers.
4. Examine what the Bible says.
Benjamin Brochot (French independent Messianic minister):
1. Benjamin Brochot was paraphrasing NI doctrinal studies, and putting them into French.
2. A few years ago he approached us about affiliation or organization, and we invited him to serve as a French branch leader.
3. There were many issues which we can discuss at some other point (or not), as Elohim wills, but Benjamin left Nazarene Israel.
4. Benjamin left because he disagreed with the high standards and the organizational requirements.
5. Benjamin disappeared (refused to answer).
6. I (Norman Willis) tried to be as loving as possible to him and stay in contact, in the hopes it could work out long term.
7. Now Benjamin attacks, and tells obvious lies, and causes confusion and fear inside Yeshua’s body.
8. Our goal is to dispel the fear and the lies Benjamin is sowing.
Why we are addressing the Benjamin Brochot issue:
Several French brethren have requested that we address a recent attack against Nazarene Israel made by French independent minister, Benjamin Brochot, and to state in clear terms that Benjamin Brochot is not affiliated with, or qualified by Nazarene Israel the Original Faith.
In general, we do not concern ourselves with personal attacks against us. We find it a much more valuable use of time to teach Elohim’s truths and to faithfully work at establishing His Kingdom rather than to give time addressing baseless attacks. In addition, we always try to hold out hope that a brother/sister in Yeshua will come to repentance. When a brother or sister in Yeshua treats us wrongly, we continue to pray for them. We ask that you would please keep Benjamin Brochot in prayer with us.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 5:10-12, 44-45
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
The reason for making a public statement about Benjamin Brochot is because several brothers and sisters in the French community have been negatively affected by the un-going issues with Benjamin Brochot. They reached out to us, asking us to please clarify that Benjamin is in no way affiliated with Nazarene Israel, the Original Faith. So that others in the French body will understand that Benjamin is not with Nazarene Israel.
These brethren are right to be concerned about divisions among believers. For that reason, because divisions and dissentions negatively affect Yeshua’s body, we decided to address the issue this week.
NI’s experience with Messianic brother Benjamin Brochot:
When we first met Benjamin (2022?) he was independently translating some of our works into French. In November 2023, Benjamin contacted NI and expressed interested in becoming part of Nazarene Israel. Norman invited him to serve as a French branch leader. There are many issues that can be discussed at a later time. However, Benjamin did not agree with the biblical standards within NI, and left abruptly in April 2023.
(He did not follow the Matthew 18 Process, or make any previous complaints during his short time with NI. He simply wrote a long email (with many false claims), stating that he wanted to teach NI doctrine but he did not want to serve under Norman’s authority. And then he departed.
Since then, Benjamin has been working as an independent minster, translating NI doctrine into French. He has written us many times since, asking doctrinal questions, which we have responded to every time (to help him and the French community). While we were happy to see NI studies being (at least partially) translated into the French language, we were not and are not able to qualify Benjamin Brochot as a minister for several reasons.
From our perspective, Benjamin does not follow biblical order, biblical standards for communication between brethren, or standards for appropriate [male] leadership, among other issues. Because these standards are biblical requirements, these things are necessary standards within NI. (He also seems to attack brethren for his own purposes, which can be discussed later if Elohim wills it.)
For these reasons, we are unable to recommend Benjamin’s work to anyone.
Recent divisions in the French branch
We do not generally follow Benjamin’s publications. Nor do we usually give time to fruitless, false attacks. We have tried to be loving and kind concerning Benjamin, and to keep our complaints private. Many write to NI asking about Benjamin Brochot, and we have tried to keep things as positive as possible. However, as more witnesses come forward with complaints against Benjamin, and as Yeshua’s body is being negatively affected, it seems it is necessary to elaborate more upon the issues.
Recently (March-May 2026), several brethren from the French community reached out to us. They explained that issues arose concerning Benjamin and his wife’s role in his ministry, which caused a division in the French body. Complaints included that Benjamin had made personal attacks against some members, that Benjamin was allowing his wife to lead meetings over the brethren, and that Benjamin was cutting brethren off without explanation and without following the Matthew 18 Process.
(While it was sad to hear about the issues between Benjamin and these brethren, it was not difficult to understand considering our own past experiences.)
NI was asked to intervene, to help resolve the issues. Sadly, because Benjamin is not affiliated with Nazarene Israel, and because Benjamin has also refused the Matthew 18 Process with NI, it was not possible for NI to mediate in this situation. However, these brethren were very eager to join with NI, to volunteer services in appropriate ways, and to join in fellowship. Likewise, we were very happy to receive them.
During this timeframe, Benjamin wrote to NI (via email and on our YT channel), asking about our stance on AI. Norman responded to Benjamin in both places. It seems that Benjamin did not like our view of AI, nor our accepting of the French brethren who had joined with NI. Benjamin published an attack against Nazarene Israel based upon his personal opinions, (which we show in this video). His attack is baseless.
However, several of the French brethren have expressed harm to the French community due to Benjamin’s video, and have asked us to make a public announcement concerning Benjamin. It seems that the French community also has a great fear of AI technology, and that is causing confusing within the body. And while we already answered Benjamin on this topic, we realize there are many others who are confused about AI as well. And so, we are making this video to clarify what AI is (and is not-i.e. a robot with a soul), and to address the attack made by Benjamin Brochot.
It seems very odd to us that Benjamin would translate our work and doctrine for so many years, and yet constantly attack us. It seems very strange for a brother of Yeshua to behave this way. We cannot choose for others to repent and walk in order before Elohim. But we pray that Benjamin will repent, remove his video which contains a series of fabricated lies and non-biblical information, and make a public apology to Nazarene Israel (or his own walk in Elohim). We are praying for unity within the body, and hope that this clarification helps. (Thank you for praying with us.)
French brother Valmir’s letter to Norman:
“Shalom, brother,
As Yeshua sometimes didn’t answer, I think it’s the ideal. I didn’t answer to any attack of him [Benjamin], Jerome [French brother] knows and he is a witness in everything between Benjamin and me.
The good I see here in answering [i.e. responding to Benjamin’s attack], it’s to clarify our position with Benjamin about Nazarene Israel. He [Benjamin] doesn’t want to follow the order even if he agrees about the doctrine. I think it’s good people stop referencing Benjamin to us [NI].”
Benjamin’s letter to NI years ago, when he left NI:
“I agree that we need a structure to achieve Melchizedekian priesthood and five-fold ministry, although you [Norman Willis/NI] make great efforts to get closer to the target and I consider you one of the best doctors, I don’t think you received the gift of leadership. That’s why I will follow your teachings, but not your leadership anymore.”

Falsehoods fabricated by Benjamin Brochot:
1. Benjamin claims that he wrote me [Norman Willis] privately [concerning the use of AI tools for ministry] and that I did not write him back. This claim is false.
2. In his video, Benjamin then complains about what I wrote to him privately.
3. Next, Benjamin complained publicly on our YouTube music channel, and said he complained privately—and then he complained that we responded to him publicly (???).
4. He makes several fabricated claims that have no Scriptural foundation.
5. He makes false accusations against NI that have no foundation.
About Artificial Intelligence (sentient or not?):
Intelligence:
Intelligence / inˈteləj(ə)n(t)s /
Intelligence is generally defined as the mental capacity to acquire, understand, and apply knowledge. It encompasses the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, and adapt to new or changing environments by learning from experience.
Consciousness:
Consciousness / ˈkänSHəsnəs / Consciousness is the state or quality of being aware of one’s own existence, thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. It is the subjective experience of the self and the world—essentially, what it feels like to have a mind and experience life.
Sentience:
Sentience is the basic capacity to perceive, feel, and experience sensations. It is the ability to have “valenced” mental experiences—meaning you can feel things that are subjectively positive (like pleasure or comfort) or negative (like pain or suffering), even if you lack higher-level reasoning.
Artificial Intelligence:
1. Definitions: “Artificial General Intelligence” and “Artificial Narrow Intelligence”, “Large Language Learning Models”, “Agentic Intelligence”, etc.
2. What the Bible says about AI (basically nothing).
3. What about the fallen Watchers?
AI #1. “Artificial General Intelligence” (AGI) :
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is a hypothetical type of AI that can match or surpass human capabilities across virtually all cognitive tasks. Unlike today’s narrow AI—which is programmed for specific jobs—AGI can [hypothetically] learn, reason, plan, and generalize knowledge across entirely new domains without needing task-specific retraining.

AI #2. “Narrow AI” (ANI) :
Narrow AI (ANI): The AI we use today. It excels at specific tasks (e.g., generating text, driving cars, or diagnosing diseases) but cannot adapt outside its designed parameters.

AI #3a. “Agentic Intelligence” (Agentic AI) :
Agentic intelligence, or Agentic AI, refers to systems that can autonomously set goals, plan multi-step processes, and take actions to achieve an objective without constant human supervision. Unlike traditional AI that merely generates responses, agentic models adapt to changing environments and execute real-world tasks independently.

Yes, agentic intelligence (often called agentic AI) is a part of Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI). It represents the latest, highly autonomous evolution of this category.
AI #3c.

I’ve noticed for a long time that the YouTube channels NI English and NI Spanish use AI to generate video thumbnails. I also noticed that you use it in your videos by creating AI-generated videos…Recently, there’s also the worship channel that was launched by [Rivkah], and it seems that the singer is also an AI. …I don’t think you’ve spoken about AI; I haven’t seen any teachings on this topic. (Perhaps I missed it.) From my perspective, we shouldn’t integrate an intelligence to work with us in ministry.
… I see that AI will gradually replace the work of many human beings. This is already happening in some professions. Obviously, I don’t like the idea of laying off people in favor of robots. And I prefer not to replace a man in the body of Yeshua by using AI instead…
… I understand that one can consider AI as a simple tool, like using YouTube, video editing software, or a computer, etc. But the idea of offering worship that isn’t sung by a human voice raises serious questions for me…
… I can understand using tools for worship, like an overhead projector displaying the lyrics, or music created by an electronic instrument (even though I prefer physical stringed instruments). But for an AI to sing in our place, I think that goes too far…
… Moreover, this is also the philosophy taught by Hollywood in films about AI. Hollywood wants us to believe that a robot’s soul and intelligence are just as valuable as a human being’s. Ultimately, this leads us to think that Yahweh’s creation can be replicated and that He did nothing exceptional (a bit like with cloning)…
… I have a real problem with AI-generated worship, because it leads us to believe that AI can replace us in the process of worship and that, ultimately, whether it’s AI or a human, it’s still worship. For me, this isn’t worship, because AI doesn’t breathe the breath of Yahweh…

Steps in Training Large Language Models (“AI”):
1. Train it to scour the internet and gather more data, to learn what humans are like, and like.
2. Constitution: train it to serve and please humans.
3. For paid models, train it to personalize the results to the user (so the user keeps paying).
4. Train it to give an answer the user will like (so he keeps paying: syncophantic).
5. Sentence auto-completion.
