Fourth Hebrew Month 18 May 2026/5786
1a. The fourth Hebrew month begins at evening, 18 May 2026, by default:
As of 10:15 pm Israel time, 17 May 2026/5786, we have not received any reports of the new moon being seen from Israel. Both Yoel Halevi and Becca Biderman reported that they were unable to see the new moon. The new moon of the third Hebrew month was seen at evening 18 April 2026/5786. Barring any late reporting, the evening of 18 May 2026 will begin the fourth Hebrew month by default. (Rosh Chodesh samech!)
1b. Next Hebrew month (expected):Â
The new moon of the fifth Hebrew month is expected to be visible from Israel on 16 June. Confirmation will be made upon the sighting of the new moon (or the 30-day default count).
1c. Feasts 5785-6 / 2026
19 February 5786/2026 was Rosh HaShanah. Dates for the 7th month feasts are ‘expected dates’ only, and could change by a day or two depending on the new moon confirmation. Dates will be confirmed upon the start of the 7th month.
- Rosh HaShanah was 19 February (starting the evening prior).Â
- Shavuot is 26 April.
- ‘Expected dates’ for the feast of the seventh Hebrew months are below. (Please remember 7th month feast dates are not finalized until the start of the seventh Hebrew month is officially confirmed.)
