Parashat Bo
Bo (בֹּא—in Hebrew, the command form of “go,” or “come,”).
Parashat Bo, in Exodus, continues the confrontation between Moshe and Pharaoh as Elohim sends further plagues, including locusts and darkness, to compel the release of the Israelites. The climax is the final, devastating tenth plague, where the firstborn in every Egyptian household perishes, sparing the Israelites who follow Yahweh's instructions for Passover. Pharaoh finally relents, allowing the Israelites to leave Egypt. Bo emphasizes Elohim's judgment, the symbolism of the Passover, and the pivotal moment of liberation that shapes the identity of the emerging Israelite nation. The Parasha sets the stage for the Exodus and the journey to the Promised Land.
