8th Day Assembly (Shemini Atzeret)

Shemini Atzeret is the second segment in the video series The Feasts and the Ancient Hebrew Wedding. In this video we explain that the Messiah was circumcised on the 8th day, and why all believers in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) should be keeping the 8th Day Assembly.

We will also talk about how to keep the feast of Shemini Atzeret, the prophetic foreshadowing in the feast, and how this prophetic foreshadowing relates to end-time prophecy. Please join us for this presentation on the 8th Day Assembly.

Yahweh’s feasts

Shemini Atzeret is one of the seven feasts handed down to Israel in the wilderness of Sinai, under the leadership of Moshe (Moses). And that is the same calendar that the Messiah, Yeshua and His apostles kept in the first century. If we want to imitate the Messiah, and walk even as He walked, then it is important to keep the same calendar that the Messiah kept. The seven feasts are broken down into two groups, what we refer to as ‘feasts of the first month’ and ‘feasts of the seventh month’. (See note at bottom.)

Feasts of the first month

Passover / Pesach
Feast of Unleavened Bread / Chag HaMatzot
Pentecost / Shavuot

Feasts of the seventh month

Trumpets / Yom Teruah
Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur
Feast of Tabernacles/Booths / Chag Sukkot
The 8th Day Assembly / Shemini Atzeret

Shemini Atzeret: prophetic foreshadowing

We will talk about the mirror imaging in the feasts, as well as the prophetic foreshadow picture given in Shemini Atzeret.

Qolossim (Colossians) 2:16-17 KJV (CORRECTED VERSION)
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a set-apart day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come;
but [except] the body of [Messiah].

Kepha Bet (2 Peter) 3:8
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with Yahweh one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

How to keep Shemini Atzeret

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:33-36
33 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
34  “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to Yahweh.
35  On the first day there shall be a set-apart convocation. You shall do no customary work on it.
36  For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. On the eighth day you shall have a set-apart convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.

Note: Since the production of this video (2017), Elohim has revealed that certain terms are not doctrinally appropriate when referring to His feasts and His calendar. In more recent works, we explain why we no longer uses the terms ‘festival’, ‘spring festivals’, or ‘fall festivals’ in reference to Yahweh’s feasts. The reason being that the term ‘festival’ translates to ‘feast of Ba’al’. And the terms ‘spring’ and ‘fall’ are not found in Scripture (and are often used to wrongly change the dates of Yahweh’s appointed times). We ask the listener to please disregard the use of these terms in this older study.
