Yom Kippur 5784 (2024): What Does Yahweh Want? Happy feast!

Yom Kippur 5784 (2024) explains how the Day of Atonement represents the wedding cermony and how to be Yeshua’s set-apart, blemish-free, Proverb’s 31 bride. It also explains the errors with Jewish Kol Nidre, and what Yahweh wants on this day with genuine fasting and afflicting our souls.

Yom Kippur 5784 prayer

Dear Yahweh, thank You for calling us. And thank You for those few of us who have responded to your call, by choosing the narrow and afflicted path. It is hard to leave the world, but we must leave the world if we want to dwell with You and Your Son, for You are not of this world. Please help us to turn away from the world and the things we want, so we can choose what You want, by Your Spirit. Please help us to decrease, so that you might increase.
Amein.

Topics discussed in this study:

Review: symbolism in the feasts

We review the symbolism and significance in each of Yahweh’s feasts. In this study, we will focus on Yom Kippur.

Feasts of First Month:
The first Aviv barley sheaf signals the new harvest year.
The Pesach is the match and the private celebration meal (e.g., Last Supper).
The Omer starts the 50-day count to the public announcement of the wedding.
Shavuot is the public announcement, and the wedding is on. (This is the culmination of the 50-day Omer count.)

Feasts of Seventh Month:
Yom Teruah
= When everything is ready for the wedding, the Groom sends His messenger to announce that He is coming to take His bride that night.
Yom Kippur = The Groom comes for His bride. (War.) (Traditionally he arrives around midnight). She is carried aloft to her new home in the Father’s house. (Nisuin).
Sukkot = Consummation and the Wedding Week
Shemini Atzeret = “Holding over” the honeymoon week.

Yom HaKippurim

We will explain how Yom Kippur highlights the differences between our lives in the temporal (material) world, and our lives in the spiritual world. In the temporal (material) world, Yom Kippur is very hard. The bride does not want to eat because she is nervous for the wedding. She analyzes her doctrine and actions (her garment) to make sure it is without spot or blemish. We want to be wise brides who have lots of oil (of the Spirit) in case there is a war, and Yeshua delays (hint, hint).

What does it mean “to afflict our souls”?

The command is to “afflict our souls”. We will talk about how, traditionally, “afflicting our souls” is done by fasting, but judging from Yahweh’s words, this does not really address the core issue of selfishness, and self-focus.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 58:3
3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’
“In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And exploit all your laborers.”

Yeshayahu 58:4-5
4 “Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high.
5  “Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to Yahweh?”

Is Kol Nidre the fast Yahweh wants?

We will discuss why the abrogation prayer of Kol Nidre is not what Yahweh wants.

“All vows, and prohibitions, and oaths, and consecrations… that we may vow, or swear, or consecrate, or prohibit upon ourselves, from the previous Day of Atonement until this Day of Atonement and … from this Day of Atonement until the [next] Day of Atonement that will come for our benefit. Regarding all of them, we repudiate them. All of them are undone, abandoned, cancelled, null and void, not in force, and not in effect. Our vows are no longer vows, and our prohibitions are no longer prohibitions, and our oaths are no longer oaths…”

What does Yahweh want?

Finally, we will explain the meaning of Tikkun HaOlam, and how Yahweh has always wanted a single family united by His Spirit, that takes care of each other, and of His planet, by submitting individually and collectively to His voice, and His words.

Neither Judah nor Ephraim realize this, so even when they fast, it is still for things that THEY want, instead of fasting for what YAHWEH wants. This is the difference between focusing on ourselves and our wants, vs. focusing on our Master’s wants.

Yeshayahu 58:6
6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?

Yeshayahu 58:7
7 “Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?”

Tikkun HaOlam: Fixing up the world (establishing a single family of man that submits to His voice and His words.)

We hope that this study and others are a blessing for you and your family, and that your feast time with Him is filled with joy and meaning.
