Nazarene Israel News (5 April 2024) gives the most current news updates about praise reports, prayer requests, projects, and current events in Nazarene Israel. In this week’s edition we give answer a question about Pesach from a viewer, and share the latest parasha study, Parasha Vayeira 2024.

Shabbat shalom, Nazarenes.

1. PRAISE REPORTS, PRAYER REQUESTS, UPDATES: 5 April 2024.

a. Recent Pesach question

In our Pesach/1ULB newsletter on 24 March 2024, we gave a list of reminders for how to celebrate Pesach. One of the reminders was in reference to what time to kill a lamb for the Pesach meal, for those who plan to kill their own animals (farmers, ranchers, etc.)

  • Clarification: For those slaughtering a lamb themselves, the Peasch (Passover) is to be killed mid-afternoon on 25 March 2024 (between the evenings). Then the Pesach meal is eaten at evening (after sundown at the start of 1ULB).

Recently, we received a question in reference to whether or not the Pesach lamb is given as a “ritual sacrifice” in the Dispersion.

We explain in more detail in our studies. Briefly, since Yahweh “again chose Jerusalem” in 1948, we must not make ritual sacrifices in the dispersion. Because Jerusalem has been chosen, the next ritual sacrifices that should be made are in a cleansed Levitical temple in Jerusalem. (And because people always ask, we do not believe they are planning to build a cleansed Levitical temple next, according to the Tanach [but rather an impure Rabbinic-Levitical temple based on Talmud].)

Some farmers and ranchers may choose to kill one of their own animals for the Pesach feast. And in ancient times, the lamb would be killed ‘between the evenings’ (mid-afternoon) in order to have the time to prepare for the Pesach meal, which occurs in the evening at the start of 1ULB. (To be clear, this is NOT “ritual sacrifice”. It is only the time the Pesach animals were traditionally killed, for the meal.)

We hope that this information is helpful. For the specific reasons why we do not make ritual sacrifices in the Dispersion, (outside a cleansed Levitical temple in the land of Israel), please refer to our study “About Sacrifices”.

2. STUDIES.

a. Parasha Vayeira: Avraham’s Incredible Faith

In Parasha Vayeira, we learn about Avraham’s incredible faith through the binding of Isaac and his intercession for Sodom & Gomorrah. This parasha teaches us that true faith is found in our love and loyalty to Yahweh Almighty.

a. Rosh HaShanah 5784/2024

As of 8-10 March 2024, we have a confirmed report from Israel that an omer’s amount of aviv barley will be ready for Yom HaNafat HaOmer on 31 March 2024. Therefore, 11 March 2024 was the confirmed declaration of Rosh HaShanah (the beginning of the Hebrew year). Rosh HaShanah sameach!

The new moon of the second Hebrew month is expected to be seen on 9 April 2024.

b. Upcoming Discipleship Meetings:

All meetings are at 8 AM Colombian time (always UTC-5, but watch your Daylight Savings Time adjustments). The Discipleship Meeting is a discussion between disciples. It is generally 1-hour long but may run longer depending on how the Spirit leads. For more on NI’s description of discipleship, please see NI’s Discipleship program.

10 April 2024 (Expected New Moon day)
19 May 2024- Shavuot

Note: If the monthly Discipleship Meeting coincides with the weekly Shabbat Meeting, the Shabbat Meeting will take precedence, and new moon discussion will be combined with the Shabbat meeting. However, in the case of a Feast Day Meeting coinciding with a Shabbat meeting, the Feast Day Meeting will take precedence.

c. Torah Calender News Updates.

Below is the updated feast schedule for 5784-5 / 2024. Rosh HaShanah and the first month feast dates are confirmed. Seventh month feast dates are “expected dates“. These dates may change by a day or two, depending on when the new moon day of the 7th month (September 2024) is confirmed.

d. Why the FirstFruits Torah Calendar?

Every year we receive questions about the Firstfruits Torah calendar and why it differs from Karaite, Jewish, and Messianic, and Equinox calendars. The different calendars that exist can (and do) cause a lot of confusion. But if we follow Scripture without adding or taking away from Yahweh’s word, we see that there are significant errors in the Karaite, Jewish, Messianic, and Equinox calendars.
We explain these errors in the following studies, as well as why it is important to follow the true Firstfruits Torah calendar in order to observe Yahweh’s feasts at His appointed times only.
To know more about why you and your family should be keeping the FirstFruits Torah Calendar, please view the studies below.
