1a. The 12th Hebrew month begins at evening, 30 January 2025
The new moon of the 12th Hebrew month was witnessed from Israel on the evening of 30 January 2025. Witnesses are as follows:
17:40 – over Ramat Yavne’el
17:31 – Jerusalem
17:36 – Zevulun valley, northern Israel.
Also, Tel Aviv and other locations.
1b. Calendar reminders
As we just began the 12th Hebrew month, this means it is time to start watching for barley reports from Israel in anticipation of when Yahweh will declare the new year. Because we receive questions each barley season, we want give a quick reminder about where to find the latest Torah Calendar news, how the Torah Calendar differs from calendars by other barley groups, and why it is important to keep Yahweh’s feasts at HIS appointed times.
There are many barley groups who declare Yahweh’s feasts at incorrect times. Karaite groups ignore Deuteronomy 16:9 and wrongly define “Firstfruits” as a random sheaf from the middle of the harvest (an anti-Yeshua doctrine). Messianic groups add rules, definitions, and celestial events that Yahweh does not command anywhere in Scripture. For this reason, these calendar groups are seemingly always a month (or sometimes two months) late.
Scripture warns us against taking doctrine from the Pharisees (rabbis), from the Sadducees (Karaites), and from outside the body of Yeshua. Scripture also warns us against adding or taking away from Yahweh’s commandments. Yahweh’s feasts are a foreshadow of prophetic events to come, and it is important for us, as His Son’s bride, to meet with Him at His appointed times. This is why NI keeps the Torah [Firstfruits] Calendar, to keep all of Yahweh’s commandments without adding or taking away from His Word, and why NI warns against other calendars, as explained in our studies.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 16:6
6 Then Yeshua said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”Qolossim (Colossians) 2:16-17 KJV (corrected version-see study)
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but [except] the body of [Messiah].
We encourage everyone following NI to remain up-to-date with Torah Calendar news, and to remember to subscribe to the weekly/monthly newsletters. This is where updates are posted on barley reports from Israel, on when NI will be declaring Rosh HaShanah, and on Yahweh’s feasts for 5785/2025 as we begin the approach to the new Hebrew year. We also recommend learning about the errors of other calendars via our studies, so that you and your family can keep Yahweh’s feasts at His appointed times. [Please refer to section 3b below for direct links to calendar studies.]
1c. Upcoming Discipleship Meetings:
31 January 2025: New Moon discipleship meeting
The meeting is a discussion between disciples and is generally 1-hour long but may run longer depending on how the Spirit leads.
NOTE: All meetings are 8 AM Colombian time (always UTC-5, but watch your Daylight Savings Time adjustments).
In the case of the monthly Discipleship Meeting coinciding with the weekly Shabbat Meeting, the Shabbat Meeting will continue as planned at 8 AM (Colombian UTC-5 time) on Shabbat.
However, in the case that a Feast Day Meeting coincides with a Shabbat meeting, the Feast Day Meeting will take precedence, and the individual Shabbat meeting will be canceled for that week.
1d. Next new moon (expected): 1 March 2025 (evening)
The next new moon is expected to be visible from Israel on 1 March 2025. Confirmation will be made upon the sighting of the new moon (or the 30-day default count). Please stay attentive to Torah Calendar News for updates concerning new moons, barley reports, Rosh HaShanah confirmation, and feasts for the coming Hebrew year.
2a. Barley and Wave Sheaf Offering:
Currently, Becca Biderman of Ancient Path New Moon is the only barley inspector who seems to understand what a proper wave sheaf is (and why you should not let the true Firstfruits fall to the ground, so you can take your “first” fruits offering from the middle of the harvest, as other groups do). She documents her work, and it seems accurate as far as we can tell. There are several other (Amalekite) barley groups whose work we cannot recommend in any way. They ignore Deuteronomy 16:9, they define “Firstfruits” as a random sheaf from the middle of the harvest, and they add rules and definitions that Yahweh does not add. They are seemingly always a month (or sometimes two months) late. While several groups sight the first crescent sliver of the new moon well, as far as we can tell, only sister Becca Biderman publishes accurate barley reports.
Even more details:
As we explain in our studies (see list below), there only needs to be enough aviv barley ready for the omer (wave sheaf) Firstfruits offering by either the 15th or the 21st day of the first month. As explained in these studies, it is a disaster if we declare Rosh HaShanah too late, because it would force farmers in the land of Israel who have the earliest ripening barley to do one of two things:
A) Either they must break Devarim (Deuteronomy) 16:9 and begin harvesting their crop BEFORE the Firstfruits offering has been presented unto Yahweh for the nation. Or
B) Lose all or part of their barley crop, while they wait an extra month for the leaders to declare Rosh HaShanah!NI Torah Calendar News for 2024.
By declaring the true Firstfruits unto Yahweh Elohim as He commands, and keeping His appointed days according to His perfect timing, the farmers do not need to lose their crops; neither are they encouraged to break any of Yahweh’s commandments. For more on declaring Rosh HaShanah, please see section 3b (below) for the studies on aviv barley and the Torah calendar. For more on the current barley inspections, please visit2b. Need to Begin the Year with the True FIRST Fruits of Barley!
We always receive inquiries about why NI observes the Hebrew months at different times from the other calendars (such as the calendars taught by the Messianics and the Sadducees / Karaites). There are several reasons, but the main reason is that we begin the calendar year with the (true) Firstfruits of barley.
In contrast, other groups take a sheaf from the main harvest, and falsely CALL them the “first” fruits (when they are more like the MAIN fruits.)
Because of this, the Messianics and the Karaites will usually be a month (or even two) late.
