Record of Doctrinal Updates

Titus 2:1
“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.”

Norman was first called to repentance in 1999, at which time he committed to doing everything he could to serve the Most High. He began learning from Messianic and Karaite leaders and teachers, later realizing that Messianic and Karaite doctrine is contaminated with Talmudic concepts and ideas. Over the years, as Norman has been blessed to be able to study Scripture full-time, Nazarene Israel has corrected unclean teachings to align accurately with Scripture. (You can read Norman’s full story here.)

The importance of pure doctrine is emphasized throughout Scripture. And because we are exhorted to “contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the set-apart ones” (Jude 3), we also find it crucial to teach the pure, unadulterated doctrine. As we continue to study Scripture our Heavenly Father graciously continues to reveal more things to us, to make our studies more accurate. Our newer content includes these cleaner concepts and ideas. However, if you are viewing older video content, please check the notes in the description section for any relevant doctrinal updates or clarifications.

The following is a list of doctrinal updates since 1999, which we have made in order to be more Scripturally accurate.

  • Spring and Fall terminology is discontinued:

When Norman was first called to repentance, he was taught to use the terms spring feasts and fall feasts. However, Scripture does not use the terms spring or fall. (These are man-made terms which depend on the observance of the equinoxes, which do not exist in Scripture.) Rather, Scripture only uses the terms summer and winter, so we now use only these terms. Further, since Shavuot (Pentecost) is an extension of Yom HaNafat HaOmer (the Day of the Wave Sheaf Offering) we now refer to these as the feasts of the first month and the feasts of the seventh month.

  • Equinox and Equilux are (subconscious) sun worship:

Most calendar groups still mistakenly require the feasts to align with the equinoxes or equiluxes. These are man-made requirements that arise from the Talmud. The equinox and equilux are not found in the Torat Moshe or the Brit Chadasha. (Because of their uses of the equinox and equilux, some groups tell us that barley is not even required, even though Elohim commands us to begin the year with in the month of aviv barley in Exodus 12.) We see it as a (subconscious) sun-worship error to describe Elohim’s feasts in a way that requires timing with the sun, rather than the ripening of the barley.

  • Shemini Atzeret (The Eighth Day Assembly) is a full day:

Norman was taught that Shemini Atzeret is a half-day celebration taking place immediately following the seven days of Sukkot (mirroring how Pesach is a half-day event beginning in the afternoon before the seven days of Unleavened Bread). However, we have learned that Shemini Atzeret is a full day, so we are updating this doctrine to reflect accordingly.
